Life on the Road - Intro

What is "Life on the Road?" It is a series of 10 questions that I will ask nomadic travelers who live, work, travel, and adventure full-time on the road. In this episode, I talk about why I created the show and reveal the 10 questions. Each nomadic traveler gets asked the same set of 10 questions so that you can compare and contrast answers and see the many different experiences with each individual.

Episode 01 - Val

Val lives in a 2015 Ford Transit, has a YouTube show @valsvanlife, and has been living on the road for 3 years. We talk about her nomadic life on the road in her self-built Ford Transit, her part-time work to support her van life, and how "van meet-ups" have been an important factor in her making friends while living a life on the road.

Episode 02 - Chris

Chis lives in a 2001 Ford E-450 Skoolie but has been a nomadic traveler since 2008. We talk about his many stories of nomadic life on the road, his involvement with the Goodvibes Collective, and the many vehicles and locations of his nomadic life.

Episode 03 - Brittany

Brittany lives in a 1994 Ford Econline (but is upgrading to a Dodge Promaster), works in the Micro-dosing space and teaches breathwork, and has been living on the road for over 8 years. We talk about her many years of traveling the world, her work with psychedelics, and how her vintage van was created.

Episode 04 - Jess

Jess lives in a 1995 Chevy G20 high roof, works in email marketing, and has been living on the road for 6 months. We talk about her nomadic life on the road in her self-built Chevy, Jade, her love and "ho-mance" with Erin, and the difficulties of traveling in an older rig.

Episode 05 - Rich & Heather

Rich & Heather live in a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 170 4x4, have been married for 26 years, and have been living on the road for 3 years. We talk about how they met and how they got on the road, what's it like being an "older" couple on the road, and how cassette toilets and high altitude don't mix.

Episode 06 - Amy

Amy lives in a 2015 Ford Transit Ecoboost, is a researcher and beekeeper, and has been living on the road for 1 year and 7 months. We talk about her nomadic life on the road in her self-built Ford Transit, her unique profession and how she makes it work on the road, and the hardest moment in her life.

Episode 08 - Mandy & Kevin

Mandy (Veggie) and Kevin (Karma) live in a 2020 Ford Transit AWD, are a couple on the road full-time, and both are VERY experienced through hikers. We talk about their life on the road for over 8 and 10 plus years living and traveling in many different forms, how they met, and why headphones are an important part of their van and relationship.

Episode 09 - Jen

Jen lives in a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 170, is a Holistic Health | Mindset Coach, and has been living on the road for only 3 weeks. We talk about how her nomadic life came to be, her transition from a job in one location to one she can do remotely, and what "vanlife" has been like for only 3 weeks.

Episode 10 - Sammie

Sammie lives in a 2001 Ram 2500 with a 1983 Sunlight Pop-up Camper, works for a non-profit fully remote, and has been living on the road for 1 year and 4 months. We talk about her many years of traveling via backpack (which she's been "nomadic" for much longer than 1 year and 4 months), her years of gig work before her life on the road, and maybe the worst "bathroom" story to date on "Life on the Road".

Episode 11 - Trevor & Nyna

Trevor and Nyna live in a 2007 Mercedes Sprinter 170, are professional musicians playing together as Fort Vine, are married, and have been living on the road for 5 years. We talk about their nomadic life on the road as full-time musicians, how and where they play and the number of shows per year, and how they are chasing their dreams as a couple and band.

Episode 12 - Jen & Kirt

Jen & Kirt live in a 2021 Ram 5500 6.7 Cummings Turbo Diesel with a 14' Morgan Landscape Box, have two boys, Logan and Lucas, and has been living on the road for 2 years. We talk about their change from stable property owners to full-time nomads, how this nomadic life has affected their marriage, and easily the best story to question #8.

Episode 13 - Christine

Christine lives in a Mazda 5 Minivan, has written a book called "Alone in Wonderland", and has been living on the road for 3.5 years. We talk about her many vehicles over the years, how the book came about and the process of writing it, and her experiences as through hiker.

Episode 14 - Erin

Erin lives in a 2008 Dodge Sprinter, does market research full-time, and has been living on the road for 10 months. We talk about her introduction into a nomadic life, not in her van, her knowing life on the road in and out of a relationship, and how "van meet-ups" have been an important factor in her making friends while living a life on the road -- especially Jess!

Episode 15 - Brian

Brian lives in a 2003 AWD Chevy Astro, is a full-time videographer and producer, and has been living on the road for 3.5 years. We talk about his many, unique rigs over the years, how he got introduced to filming for Tiny House Tours, and how van life has helped him grow as a person.

Episode 16 - Sloane

Sloane lives in a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 170 4x4, carries a horse trough for her van life baths, and has been living on the road for 4 years. We talk about hashtag van life vs living in a van, van life before the COVID pandemic, and what it's like being alone. She's a beautiful soul, her own independent woman, and has two of the best puppy dogs in nomadic travel.

Episode 17 - Matt

Matt lives in a 2005 Ford Econoline extended, from the south but loves Colorado, and has been living on the road for almost a year. We talk about his inspiration for coming out west and to Colorado, his experience day trading, and how grateful he is to be in his van and apart of this community.

Episode 18 - Matthew

Matthew lives in a 2005 Dodge Sprinter T1N, is a film producer, and has been on the road for 5.5 years. We talk about the trip that inspired his van life journey, how the good vibes collective started, and his passion for community.

Episode 19 - Kayden

Kayden lives in a 2019 Storyteller STEALTH, works in real estate and is the ultimate product hype girl, and has been living on the road for 2.5 years. We talk about her special rig and her relationship with Storyteller Overland, her being the ultimate connector in the van community, and her travels with other nomads.

Episode 20 - Holly

Holly lives in a 1997 Ford e350, has a podcast called "Deliberate Living", is a creator, writer, and coach, and has been living on the road for 3.5 years. We talk about her anxieties, how she found a "home" in a small town in Arizona, and, "literally" laugh through this entire conversation.

Episode 21 - Carson

Carson lives in a 2019 Ram Promaster 3500 extended, works for Microsoft and is a fellow SPARTAN (Go Green), and has been living on the road for 1 year. We talk about the hardships he went through to propel him into the nomadic life, winter vanlife, coming together for a few parties and our shared love of composting toilets.

Episode 22 - Shami

Shami lives in a 1996 GMC Safari, is a massage therapist and healing facilitator, and has been living on the road for 3 years. We talk about her nomadic life in the vehicles before the GMC, her connections and love for the nomadic community, and how she's working with the Leaping Deer Ranch and creating a wellness center called Wild Sol Wellness.

Episode 23 - Emma and Jason

Emma and Jason live in a 2022 Storyteller Overland Mode LT Ford Transit, Jason has been a professional musician for 30 years and has been living on the road for 3 years. We talk about living on the road as a couple, how their relationship with Storyteller Overland came about, and what's it like living on the road as a full-time musician.

Tara lives in a 2021 Storyteller Overland Stealth 4x4, has a sidekick named Aspen, and has been living on the road for 1.5 years. We talk about her nomadic life on the road in winter vanlife as a fellow snowmad, why and how she bought her Storyteller, and how she works as an office manager from the road.

Episode 25 - Miranda

Miranda lives in a 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon, works many different jobs as she travels, and has been living on the road, off and on, for 5 years. We talk about her love for the Vanagon community and how she built her rig, being alone on the road, minus her dog "River", and getting interrupted a million times during the episode - welcome to "Vanlife".

Episode 26 - Kristin

Kristin lives in a 2019 Dodge Promaster 136, lives and travels with her dog Koda, and has been living on the road for 2 years. We talk about her nomadic life on the road starting on the east coast, how seasonal and remote work has kept her on the road, and how pee on your van floor happens to everyone.

Episode 27 - Aaron

Arron lives in a 2017 Nissan Envy 2500, is a nomadic DJ and Event Promoter, and has been living on the road for 2 years. We talk about his nomadic life on the road in his self-built Nissan (RIP, which died less than two weeks after our conversation), the real reason why he started van life, and how important Aaron is as a DJ within our nomadic community.

Episode 28 - Blakeley

Blakeley lives in a 2021 Dodge Promaster, was one of my first van friends on the road, and has been living on the road for 1.5 years. We talk about her nomadic life on the road in her self-built Promaster that she built with her dad, what not to do for recovery gear, and her amazing partner in the van "Smith".
